The Story

The Story

Ryan Philip Tremblay was born and raised in Winter Haven, Florida.  His love for woodworking began early building tree forts and continued through high school shop class.  In 2000, he founded Tremblay Wood Art while attending High Point University in North Carolina.  After graduating from University of Florida with a degree in Building Construction, he began a project manager career in Sarasota handling over $300 million of complex commercial projects.  In 2017, he took a leap of faith and began woodworking full time.  Since then, Tremblay Wood Art has completed over $1 million in commission work, milled over 100,000 board feet of local urban recovered trees (predominantly from storm fallen exotics), kiln dried and sold over 25,000 board feet, and operated a negative waste business model where even sawdust is upcycled.

Wood Finish

Natural Finish

Tremblay Wood Art works exclusively with all-natural pure tung oil, blended with citrus and pine solvents, and finished with carnauba and beeswax. This hand-applied process penetrates deeply into the wood, filling the pores and creating a durable, waterproof barrier. After several weeks of curing, each piece is carefully buffed and burnished, allowing the wax to meld with the oil. The result is a warm sheen and chemical free, authentic finish that preserves the unfiltered characteristics of the grain.  Tung oil has been used for more than 2,000 years, derived from the seed of the tung tree. By returning this natural oil to the wood, Tremblay Wood Art honors the origin and reinforces the nature infused, healthy, sustainable philosophy we strive to express in every creation.
